Adventure Details
The Huacachina Oasis, 5 minutes from Ica, is South America's only natural desert oasis: a palm-fringed lagoon surrounded by giant dunes of fine sand. The dune buggy and sandboarding tour is its must-do experience.
Our tubular buggies with roll cages and harnesses take you on a desert rollercoaster, driven by authorized drivers who know every dune. At the highest crests we stop so you can go sandboarding, with boards and wax included.
The ride ends at a natural desert viewpoint just in time for one of Peru's most golden sunsets. Important: always ride with licensed, insured operators, as regional authorities require.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does the Huacachina buggy and sandboarding tour cost?
Our tour costs S/ 70 per person and includes the tubular buggy ride, sandboards with wax, and a professional driver. The municipal desert entrance fee (approx. S/ 4) is paid separately. We confirm the total cost before you book — no surprises.
Is the dune buggy tour safe?
With a licensed operator, yes. All our buggies have roll cages, harness seats, and authorized, experienced desert drivers. Avoid informal street-sold tours without insurance or technical inspection — regional authorities have issued warnings about them.
Do I need sandboarding experience?
Not at all. Beginners can slide down lying flat on their stomachs (sled style), which is extremely easy, safe, and fun. More adventurous riders can try sitting or standing.
What is the best time for the tour?
The 4:00 PM slot is the favorite: the sand is no longer scorching, the light is perfect for photos, and you finish watching the sunset from the top of the dunes. In summer, the early morning slot is also pleasant.
How do I get from Paracas to Huacachina?
Huacachina is about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Paracas. We can arrange a private transfer, or you can take an intercity bus to Ica plus a 10-minute taxi. We also offer the combined Paracas + Huacachina full-day tour.
What should I bring?
Sunglasses or goggles (the wind kicks up sand), closed shoes, sunscreen, and your phone or camera well secured. Avoid loose items: everything must be strapped down in the buggy.
