How much does the Golden Shadows Trek cost?
The hike costs S/ 120 per person and includes round-trip transport to the trailhead, a certified guide, trekking poles on request, and photos of the hike taken by your guide. Only the Reserve entrance fee (S/ 11) is extra.
Is the hike physically demanding?
The route is moderate-low difficulty, about 5 km. There are some gentle sandy climbs, but the pace is relaxed with plenty of stops at the viewpoints.
What shoes should I wear?
Closed athletic shoes or hiking boots are mandatory. Flip-flops or flat-soled city shoes are not permitted for safety reasons.
Can children join the trek?
We recommend this tour for children aged 10 and older who enjoy walking, given the 2.5-hour duration of the trail.
Why is the trek in the afternoon?
The route is designed to reach the final viewpoint just as the sun sets over the ocean: the golden light paints the cliffs and dunes — the phenomenon that gives the trek its name. It also avoids the midday heat.
